The AKIK-Landesverband BW e. V. with its groups Baden-Baden/Freiburg, Schopfheim/Lörrach is a parent association that volunteers for the rights of children and adolescents - regardless of age, origin or illness - before, during and after a hospital stay.

AKIK was instrumental in the creation of the EACH Charter. This catalogue of demands of the European Association for Children in Hospital (EACH) demands the best possible medical treatment as a fundamental right.

Qualifications

AKIK is committed to implementing the EACH Charter as a quality standard in the clinics for and youth medicine. This is intended to contribute to the well-being of children in the hospital and to avoid mental damage.

AKIK calls for the maintenance of child clinics and departments to guarantee a comprehensive and local paediatric care.

Key activities

AKIK advises, informs and supports children in the hospital, parents and clinic staff.

AKIK sensitizes through public relations work in the media with information and consulting stands as well as with political leaders we influence

AKIK distributes rescue teddies in its local groups by equipping the rescue vehicles with the "AKIK rescue teddy" as a comfort agent, supporting in the rescue industry.

AKIK is involved in the book and visiting service, and volunteers visit children by the bed with the book cart or relieve the parents through visiting services.
