Commissioner for people with disabilities in the district of Lörrach

The Commissioner for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities has the task of advancing the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at local level. It advises the district on policy issues for people with disabilities and cooperates with the administration. To this end, it must be involved in projects of the district at an early stage, as far as the specific concerns of people with disabilities are concerned. Advising cities and municipalities in the district on their way to accessible, inclusive living spaces is also one of their tasks.

The district disabled officer also serves as an ombudsman for people with disabilities who are restricted in their legal rights or are discriminated against because of their disability.

In the exercise of its activity, it is independent and not bound by instructions from the district administration.
