In the city of Schopfheim there were once three local clubs: Fahrnau, Schopfheim and Gersbach. Fahrnau was integrated into the local association Schopfheim years ago. Due to the distance to the district of Gersbach and for operational tactical reasons, it makes sense to leave this local association as an independent unit.

The Ortsverein was founded on 18 October 1969 by Gersbacher comrades, who were active members of the Ortsverein Fahrnau, after they had finished 3rd in the first aid competition. Today it has Readiness 18 active women and men who meet in a 14-day rhythm in the beautiful group room in Gersbach City Hall.

The tasks shall include: medical assistance of events in Gersbach, Schlechtbach, Fetzenbach, Mettlenhöfe, Neuhaus and Lochmühle. In addition, the participation in Civil protection. Instructor Christian Zimmermann is responsible for breadth education (life-saving emergency measures, first aid training) as well as specialist training (medical assistants and AED).

What distinguishes Gersbach especially is the so-called Local helper group within the municipality. Because the journey of the ambulances from Schopfheim (after all, 15 kilometres winding distance) always takes time, two helpers move with the ambulance of the civil protection to the emergency department and provide qualified first aid. For this purpose, the Integrated Control Center will alert you via mobile phone. In winter, the readiness is additionally required. At the Gersbach ski lift, the Red Crusaders are on standby to help with ski accidents immediately. For this they have a "2-man Akia" available.

The local association Gersbach is a member of the association Gersbacher Vereine and can thus also influence the village club life, which is of particular importance for a local association of this size. Cooperation with the local fire department is particularly good. The willingness to reassign a new emergency ambulance to civil protection is really welcome. With this vehicle, the readiness is well positioned.

Youth work has a long tradition in the easternmost local association of our association area. Since 1972 there has been a Youth Red Cross GroupIt currently consists of seven young people.
