German Red Cross - Ortsverein Schönau
Tested profileIn 1930, the Schönau Medical Column was founded with five active members. Five years later, the first Red Cross sisters joined. In the town hall shed (location of today's ambulance) was housed a single-axle hand car for the ambulance and a "Zieharmonikatrage".
In 1956, the first ambulance was purchased for Schönau. Since then, an ambulance for the area of the upper Wiesental has been available in Schönau. It is housed in the Rotkreuzhaus, built in 1975 for 250,000 DM, next to the town hall, where the local association also has its rooms.
In 1998, the construction of a new vehicle garage worth EUR 130,000 was started, which was purchased in 2001. In 2022, the aging Ford Transit was replaced by an Opel Vivaro as a crew and material vehicle.
Today, the now 93-year-old local association counts 606 supporting members and 16 active and four unattached helpers. Approximately 1,700 service hours are performed annually. From 2023, 3 blood donation dates are offered annually in Schönau.
The core tasks of the local association include Medical services (e.g. in riding tournaments, football matches, the Belchenlauf and the Bundesliga competitions of the Tauzieher) as well as the participation in Civil protection. Services as well as education and training and care of camaraderie are carried out in close cooperation with the local associations Todsau and Cell this is very successful. The wide-ranging education in Erste Hile, Erste Hilfe am Kinder und Behindertem Person is also offered.
20 seniors regularly participate in the Gymnastic lessons part. One Youth Red Cross Group is under construction. In the catchment area of the Ortverein Schönau are 4 Clothing containers ready to be emptied regularly. The cooperation with other aid organizations is camaraderie and subject-oriented.
