DHBW Lörrach is one of the nine locations of the Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg, the first dual, practice-integrating university in Germany. At the Lörrach location, more than 2,100 students are studying in almost 20 degree programmes (including two trinational degree programmes) in the fields of economics, technology and health and in cooperation with over 750 local and national dual partner companies. There, the students conclude a three-year employment contract with regular, continuous training compensation. By alternating between the theoretical and practical phases (usually in a three-month rhythm), students acquire practical know-how in addition to professional and methodological knowledge. The high takeover rate of the graduates of more than 85 percent is the best proof of a well-founded practice-oriented education.

The healthcare market is growing continuously and is considered one of the most important future markets worldwide. Digitalisation, demographic changes, increasing demand for health services and the use of artificial intelligence are among the current challenges. The Business Administration Health Management degree program provides the necessary skills and opens up exciting career opportunities. In seminar papers, topics relating to regional health are also dealt with.

Furthermore, the course offers extracurricular events such as the "Let's Talk Health - Talks on health topics", to which the public is also invited.

Qualifications

CHE University Ranking

With more than 120,000 students surveyed and more than 300 universities surveyed, the ranking of the non-profit Centre for Higher Education Development (CHE) is the most comprehensive and detailed university comparison in the German-speaking countries.

After the successful participation in 2019, 2020/2021 and 2023/2024, DHBW Lörrach again participated in the ranking and this time sent its dual degree program in computer science into the race. The ranking includes assessments of students on the study conditions at the DHBW as well as facts on study, teaching and research. For the first time, the students also gave their judgment on digital teaching elements. Also requested are the offers for career orientation, the scientific or practical reference, the rooms, the library equipment or the IT infrastructure. 

The results of the student survey on the study situation in general are clearly presented on a 5-star scale. The fact-based ranking results are assigned to three ranking groups (top, middle and final groups) and are marked with the colors green (top group), yellow (central group) and blue (closing group).

The Faculty of Economics is currently participating in the survey again.

The DHBW received the award “Top University 2026” in the prestigious category for universities with more than 15,000 students. StudyCheck emphasizes: “This result confirms what DHBW students experience on a daily basis: study content, courses, lecturers, equipment and organization, which convince a large majority of students.” The award measures satisfaction on the basis of thousands of ratings and highlights DHBW as one of the most popular universities in Germany.
