The clinics of the district Lörrach are a communal clinic with three locations: Kreiskrankenhaus Lörrach, St. Elisabethen Hospital Lörrach and Kreiskrankenhaus Schopfheim. With around 2,200 employees, they are one of the largest employers in the region and are the central point of contact for stationary and outpatient care in the Triangle. Every year approx. 25,000 patients are treated inpatient and around 89,000 outpatient. The clinics offer a wide range of basic and special care with modern diagnostic and therapy methods. Around 2,000 births annually underline the importance of childcare. As an academic teaching hospital at the University of Freiburg, the association is engaged in education and training. The St. Elisabethen Hospital has been fully integrated since 2023, the MVZ Landkreis Lörrach GmbH has been supplementing the outpatient care since 2009. From 2026, a central hospital is created at the new Lörrach health campus.

Qualifications

Our quality orientation is shown in numerous awards and certifications. Acute and emergency medicine meets the requirements of the extended emergency care according to G-BA. Accident surgery corresponds to the G-BA directive for the treatment of hip joint-close femur fractures. As a certified diabetes center, we are certified by the German Diabetes Society (DDG). Our breast cancer center and the colon cancer center were once again awarded by the German Cancer Society (DKG). The Stroke Unit is certified as a specialized stroke station and offers optimal care in acute neurological emergencies. With this spectrum and the clear focus on quality, we guarantee high-quality, reliable and local medical care for the population in the Lörrach district.

Key activities

The clinics of the Lörrach district offer a comprehensive medical spectrum – from home-close primary care to specialized primary medicine. These include internal medicine with cardiology, pneumology, gastroenterology and oncology, general and visceral surgery, accident, spinal and orthopedic surgery, gynecology and birth aid, anaesthesia and intensive medicine. The offer is supplemented by psychosomatics, psychiatry, child and youth psychiatry, child surgery, diabetics, radiology, hand and plastic surgery. Special expertise consists in minimally invasive surgery, pain therapy as well as in certified centers such as the breast cancer, colon cancer and interdisciplinary pelvic base center. The MVZ Landkreis Lörrach GmbH complements the stationary offer with outpatient services – for a quality-proof supply throughout the county.
