What is discrimination?
Discrimination is a disadvantage in which people are treated unequally due to actual or attributed characteristics, although there is no justified reason for this behaviour. The General Equal Treatment Act (AGG) identifies as characteristics of discrimination against ethnic origin, gender, religion or Worldview, disability, age or sexual identity.
Discrimination can occur in various areas of everyday life. In social life, it expresses itself, for example, by limitations in the participation in public events, in training, professional practice or its remuneration. Here the action of an organisation, e.g. the employment office, is responsible for discrimination. At the private level, discrimination is expressed, for example, by the fact that a person does not pay attention to another person because of one or more features, excludes him from the group or treats him in a declining manner.
