Specialist in Intercultural Men's Work
Our target group is male youth and men of all backgrounds. Our goal is to empower men to recognize their own resources in the crisis situation and to make responsible decisions. Men and women have different approaches to dealing with problems and crises. Men often struggle to admit problems and seek help. There is also usually no reflected discussion with the own construction of masculinity. Rather, men are guided by the prevailing stereotypes of men and women. The origin and socialization of the man often play a decisive role here: expectations and demands on the male sex can drastically differ in the origin and receiving society, which can lead to frustration and enormous pressure on the man and end in a crisis that can affect several.
With a focus on masculinity and intercultural sensitivity, the Fachstelle intercultural Männerarbeit offers individual advice as an aid to cope with various crisis situations in a man’s life. Ethnic, religious and cultural affiliations as well as the gender of the client (and the consultant himself) are perceived as an essential part of the counselling process: a resource and a challenge at the same time. The following topics can be discussed: font-family: role of the man in the family, social environment, working environment and society and associated risks and conflicts, traditional and modern role models of the man and woman, values and norms of gender politics in Germany, equality between women and men, men and violence.
In the area of prevention, we offer information events and group discussions in which we deal with all questions about masculinity, male role and male self-image. We advise competently and free of charge and offer a non-binding initial consultation. We are subject to the obligation of confidentiality, all data are treated by us in accordance with data protection. Appointments are possible by agreement.
