Strengthening the dignity of your companion
Anyone who ill himself or a loved one incurably experiences a time full of questions and uncertainty. Especially then, offers are important that relieve and give orientation. A central building block for this is the round table Hospiz and Palliativversorgung in the district of Lörrach, which has already been set up before the new Palliativstation in the Dreiland-Klinikum. It stands by way of example for cross-sector supply offerings, which allow an accompaniment in the last stage of life with dignity and mindfulness. Comprehensive information on palliative and hospicable support in the Lörrach district is available in the Digital Social and Health Compass www.gesundsozial.digital/hospiz-palliativversorgung.
Palliative and hospicable support is aimed at seriously ill people and their relatives. It offers advice and support in challenging stages of life and at the end of life and helps to maintain quality of life and promote relief. “With all the service providers and initiators of cross-sector palliative care to come to a table, it has a prominent role and makes it clear that Palliative Care is given a firm place in the three-country clinic and that our quality standards are based on attitude, responsibility and respect for the people who trust us,” explains Udo Lavendel, Chairman of the Management Board.
With the cross-sectoral offer, which connects outpatient, stationary and rehabilitative services to each other free from competitive thinking, patients are fully accompanied. “The aim of hospice and palliative care is to be able to take the time that every person needs in this situation to meet his individual needs and dignity. This round table is characterized by an extraordinary and constructive team character with the focus on patients as well as their relatives,” emphasizes Dr. Norbert Krauss, chief physician of the Gastroenterology, Oncology and Palliative Medicine Clinic.
Historical roots and charter principles
Today's close networking in the county is essentially based on the commitment of people such as Dr. Christa Häfner, who in the time as chairman of the outpatient hospice group Dreiländereck has significantly initiated the establishment of the round table. Her successor in the chair of the Ambulant Hospice Group Dreiländereck, District Council Tonio Paßlick, emphasizes the spirit of the Charter for the care of the most severe and dying people in Germany, which was signed in the Lörrach City Church in 2018 at the World Health Day. The Charter calls for everyone to die at the end of their lives worthy, painless and well-accompanied – supported by qualified professionals, social responsibility and a comprehensively connected hospice and palliative care.
Network offers in the county
The establishment of appropriate supply and networking structures, which began in 2019, bundles the central offers in the county and shows how diverse support can be: from outpatient hospice support through volunteer supporters to outpatient child and youth hospice services to the children's palliative team in the framework of the specialized outpatient palliative care (SAPV). If a care at home is no longer possible, the stationary hospice at the Buck will provide an important place of care. Other main pillars are hospital pastoral care, social counselling in the clinics, bridge care of the oncological centre and the offer “Last Wish Mobiles”, which enables desire journeys in the last phase of life. In addition, the Landkreis Lörrach and the ipunkt of the Fritz-Berger Foundation provide comprehensive advice on care.
Outlook: Palliativstation im Dreiland-Klinikum
The valuable network work is continuously expanded and adapted to the growing need. Thus, for example, the stationary hospice at the Buck in 2027 opens up its change or change. New building with then 12 seats. With the emerging Palliativstation in the new Dreiland Clinic, existing competencies will be bundled and developed interdisciplinary. Through structured case meetings and joint visits with other specialist departments, the care is individually adapted and the quality of life of the patients is improved. Social service, pain therapy and the Palliative Network are integrated early – also for a safe transition in home care or hospice care. The three-country clinic thus sets a sign for modern, human medicine that comprehensively supports and accompanies patients.
