New self-help group planned for victims of an aortic endeavor in the Lörrach area
In Lörrach, a new self-help group is to be established for people with aortic dissection. To this end, people who have an interest in sharing with others are currently being sought.
In the case of an aortic endissection, a crack occurs in the inner wall of the main aorta. This is considered one of the most urgent emergencies in heart surgery. Even after successful treatment, much changes in the lives of those affected.
The aim of the new self-help group is to share experiences, support each other and deal with the challenges of the disease. A first meeting will take place as soon as enough interested persons have found themselves. In the initial phase, the group is supported by the contact point for self-help.
There is no regional group in the area of Freiburg – Basel – Lörrach. A local group Lörrach is to be founded in cooperation with the established self-help organisation „Die Aortis“ from Hannover.
Affected persons from the entire three-country region are invited. In the Lörrach district, there are currently around 100 self-help groups or self-help initiatives for the common management of diseases, health, psychological or social problems for those affected and their families. The KISS is an offer from Lörrach County Council. It provides support for self-help groups and their members, self-help citizens and professionals from the psychosocial and medical field. In addition, the contact point informs about the content and principles of self-help and supports new and existing self-help groups.
