New self-help group for those affected by postpartal depression
Other participants are selected
Those affected by postpartal depression are invited to participate in a newly established self-help group. The focus is on exchange and support. A first meeting is planned in Rheinfelden or Grenzach-Wyhlen as soon as a group of interested persons has found themselves. The meeting is accompanied by the self-help contact point.
The group initiator suffered postpartal depression after the birth of her third child and was treated in a special clinic. There she was able to exchange experiences with other mothers and experienced that the exchange with other affected persons could be very healing.
Interested mothers and fathers (including those who have experienced postpartum depression some time ago) are invited to contact the contact and information centre for self-help in the district of Lörrach (telephone: 07621 410-2142, e-mail: kiss@loerrach-landkreis.de) or directly with the initiator of the self-help group (postpartaledepression@gmail.com).
Postpartial depression
Postpartal depression is a depression with severe symptoms that occurs in the first year after a release and lasts over a period of more than two weeks. According to the women's health portal of the Federal Institute for Public Health, postpartal depression/weekbed depression affects up to 15 percent of all mothers after release. In contrast to the so-called baby blues (stimulation depth in the first days after birth), the general symptoms of depression last significantly longer. Different physical, psychological and social factors can play a role in the cause.
